The North Carolina AIDS Action Network (NCAAN) seeks qualified candidates to join our team as a Community Organizer.
The ideal candidate(s) will demonstrate:
- A successful record of at least one year as a community/field organizer for issue and/or candidate campaigns;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Self-motivation and problem-solving skills required to work effectively with limited direct supervision;
- Track-record of meeting or exceeding supporter ID goals;
- Ability to recruit, train, retain, and mentor volunteers;
- Commitment to grassroots leadership development;
- Cultural competencies to work with communities disproportionately affected by HIV/AIDS in North Carolina, including communities of color, low-income populations, men who have sex with men, transgender people, youth, women, injection drug users, and rural populations, especially in eastern North Carolina;
- Commitment to advancing the mission of the North Carolina AIDS Action Network;
- Knowledge of campaign database management tools, especially Salsa and VAN;
- Reliable transportation & valid driver’s license;
- Ability to work some evenings and weekends.
