Shake Things Up in Raleigh!

Tell our legislators they've lost focus! We need jobs, not attacks on North Carolina citizens.

Tell the NC General Assembly HB 777 and SB 106 are a step back for North Carolina. We don't need to have a referendum denying rights to North Carolinians who are gay. Our lawmakers should focus on creating jobs!

Let's help families in North Carolina - not hurt them!

With the economy in flux, you should really focus on other things!!! Like why so many NC employees are being laid off!

In Virginia, we are five years out from similar legislative as proposed for North Carolina. Virginia supporters promised that laws defining marriage would have no, or little, impact on the lives of gay and lesbian Virginians, or other Virginians. This has not been true. The impacts of the Virginia laws have included (a) increasing workplace stresses ( by enforcing workplace inequalities regarding coverages and access to benefits, and by appearing to endorse social prejudice in the workplace); (b) increasing health access disparities ( that then impacts health status and health outcomes), increasing education access disparities ( that then contributes to falling SOLS and failing school performance), and increasing disparities in access to other services; © increasing negative perspectives and commentary on Virginia as a location for state-of-the-art research, business development, and other educational, cultural, social and economic development; (d) prohibiting access of family members to particular services (e.g. elderly parents of a gay or lesbian couple; children of gay or lesbian couple; foster children or other dependents of gay or lesbian couple; etc). North Carolina has only to look to Virginia to find a cautionary tale. Be better than Virginia!

We do not need you in the NC Legislature to be more concerned about denying right to Homosexuals. They are, after all, your brothers, your sisters, your family and they deserve the same rights as you and me.

We in NC want you in the Legislature to focus on investing in this state. By investing I do not mean giving the store away to corporations, wealthy business and wealthy people, I mean the working people that make the money they enjoy so much and can never have enough of. Quality jobs can be created by investing into the infrastructure of this state. We do not need minimum wages jobs or a jobs plan like that nut Perry from Tx. We cannot live off of minimum wage – can you? We cannot live without jobs or a means to earn a quality living – can you? However, you can live with Gays having the same rights as you and me.
