What You Should Bring to the HKonJPAC6 Mobilization
On Saturday, February 11, 2012
Bring an American Flag. As this year’s rally will challenge attacks on Voting Rights, our bringing American flags can help remind voters we are also Americans whose inalienable rights are guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution and our existence is interwoven into the colorful fabric of the human flag.
Bring your Youth. At this year’s HKonJPAC mobilization, we would like to make special efforts to recruit and bring youth participants, even if your area does not have a bona fide NAACP Youth Council. Whether we seek out youth from our local churches, schools, or area colleges, they should be given every opportunity and continuous invitations to stand with us as these important pages of history are written.
Strive to bring a minimum of 40 to 50 people. Every ally organization should strive to bring 40 to 50 people, or the equivalent of one bus load. Please begin using your pledge forms so you will have documented commitments, names and contact information from these individuals. Please notify us with the number of people you are planning to bring.
Bring some Marshals. Identify one or more individuals from your area who will serve as a Marshal. Marshals will help to serve as eyes, ears, and assist to ensure the overall order and safety of the march as participants line up and walk together throughout the duration of the route. More information will be forthcoming regarding training and what will be expected of these volunteers.
Bring “Dos and Don’ts” list. It would be a good idea to keep with you at all times the “Important Dos and Don’ts for Marchers” list. It is too lengthy to try to memorize. Also please read/distribute this list at your Local NAACP General Membership Meeting, prior to the march.
Bring comfortable shoes.
Bring your Medications (if applicable).
